Silver Winner BBC Award 2020

We’re excited to have been named ‘Silver Winner’ at the Belgian Business Chamber Award 2020. 🥳 It means that we won in the category of the Silver Sponsors and we are proud of it!

What is BBC Award?

BBC Award 2020 is a competition organized every year by the Belgian Business Chamber. It is a motivation for members of the chamber to intensively develop and strengthen business ties between Belgium and Poland. We have worked for this all year. We documented each event with diligence and shared our stories in social media. At the end of the year, we put all our hearts into the presentation to charm the jury.

Our achievements were assessed in 3 categories:

• sustainable development
• Corporate Social Responsibility
• creating value for Belgian business

In the category of sustainable development, we presented our contribution to reducing the environmental footprint. The ecological actions we take are distinct. In addition to standard solutions such as waste segregation or energy-saving LEDs, we created our own sustainable garden with a rainwater tank.

What, in turn, is the corporate social responsibility? Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a management strategy which focuses on the social interest. In addition to the environmental aspect, it focuses on work-life balance by supporting employees and investing in HR. It is also about improving work using modern technologies. And that is exactly what we do every day. We provide employees with a balance between work and private life and we care about their health. You can come to our office with a child or a pet. You can take care of your family thanks to task-based work and remote work. We invest in development, financing of trainings for employees and we offer well-paid internships. We are a modern office that focuses on BI analyzes and work automation. At the same time, we do not forget about those in need, supporting orphanages.

VGD created value for Belgian business by sponsoring some events organized by the BBC Business Women Club. We covered advertising of the International Women’s Day in Forbes Women and Elle. We cooperate with Flanders Investment and Trade to help Belgian companies extend their activities to Poland. Our Christmas Eve was also a good opportunity to pay tribute to Belgian tradition.

We thank our customers for inspiration. Sharing your needs with us meant that we could create new guidebooks and share information with you to ensure a wide range of your knowledge.

However, the biggest thanks go to employees of VGD. As the Managing Director of VGD, Michaela Martinek, wrote in an thank-you e-mail to the employees:

“Without involvement of VGD employees, we would not have received this award. Your financial support to buy gifts for an orphanage, active involvement of your children, team work and play, or work on our new garden have been appreciated by the members of the BBC. Thank you all for your commitment and work on a friendly atmosphere and a positive image of the company.”

The greatest successes are born out of respect for work and other people. Employees, who want to spend their free time to take care of the workplace and the people with whom they spend 1/3 of the day, are of great value. We respected initiatives coming not only from senior positions, but we took into account also ideas of assistants and interns. Everyone has contributed to building a solid foundation for the company. We are glad that our effort has been appreciated.

On December 17th there was an online event: “How to combine business with CSR and sustainable development- networking meeting” where all the winners presented their activities. Thank you for inspiration!
