Gala of Sustainable Development Reports Competition and the “People who change business” Competition

November 5, 2021

Yesterday, November 4, 2021, we had the pleasure to take part in the Gala of Sustainable Development Reports Competition and the “People who change business” Competition, organised by the Responsible Business Forum and Deloitte. We could not miss it, as we are the Signatory of the Diversity Charter. The unusual atmosphere of the Norblin Factory in Warsaw emphasized the uniqueness of the event.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Those few hours were enough for large companies to shed some light on our perception of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development. It is natural that usually micro, small and medium enterprises  – we are one of them – do not present their activities on these topics as vigorously as corporations. The clout is lower, but yet an impact on the world is just as positive, regardless of the scale of an action. That is why such events are an inspiration and motivation for us to continue our fight for the environment and improvement of the “work-life balance” at VGD.

People who change business

We would like to congratulate the winners of the “People who change business” award for their activities and involvement in the workplace and beyond it, which make concepts such as CSR or climate protection increasingly popular in Poland.

Climate protection in business and beyond

It was significant for us that the jury decided not to award the prize in the “Climate Protection” category. Why? Because we can all do better. The environment requires more wooing. This decision is very meaningful for us. It makes us realized that business communities can save the world from the climate catastrophe that was to come tomorrow. As aptly described during the gala by dr hab. Bolesław Rok: tomorrow has already started.

Non-financial ESG reporting

The reflection that has emerged during the gala: actions for sustainable development are reflected in financial results. Non-financial ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) reporting is about to become an everyday reality – a requirement that has a chance to protect the climate. For now, the obligation will affect large enterprises, but VGD is already looking at ways to collect data, select indicators and measure effectiveness of activities, in order to prepare its own ESG report one day. After all, we take our actions seriously. We want to show it to you by means of the numbers and graphs. Show that what we do makes sense.

Congratulations to the winners of the Sustainable Development Reports Competition: Żabka, ING Polska and the recognised ones: Allegro, CCC, GlobeTradeCentre i Solaris.
